What a beautiful day to be out birding today! Some highlights from birding around the Champlain Valley...

Rough-legged Hawk (2) - one dark and one light morph - Button Bay Road, Ferrisburgh

Northern Shrike (2) - one on Hawkins Road in Ferrisburgh and another on Basin Harbor Road chasing another songbird. Peter Jackson should have filmed this high altitude chase scene - it lasted for well over a minute with the smaller bird narrowly eluding the incredibly persistent shrike. At least until they both disappeared behind some pines.

Snow Bunting - large flock of approx. 175 on Hawkins Road; another flock on Basin Harbor Road

Bald Eagle (3) - 1 Button Bay, 1 Fort Cassin Road and 1 Hawkins Road

Cooper's Hawk (2) - 1 Little Chicago Road, Ferrisburgh and 1 Sand Road, Panton

Red-tailed Hawk - At least 30 from Panton to Waterbury

Happy Birding!
Chip
