Shelburne Bay hosted numerous birders today. We were lucky to run into a
number of them. And, of course, our feathered friends were there.....
Canada Geese (100+)
Greater White-fronted Goose - see Heather's account - we did not see this
visitor despite our best 'where's Waldo' efforts
Common Golden Eye (75+)
Common Mergansers (50+)
Greater Black Backed gulls (4-5)
Ring Billed gulls (50+)
Bald Eagles (2)
We also witnessed a muskrat popping up through holes in the ice. He/She was
most amusing to watch. He/she would dive down, retrieve some roots or other
matter, bring them to the surface and eat while perched on the ice. This
occurred a half dozen times over a 20 minute period, then the little guy
disappeared for good.
