Yesterday afternoon a single white goose, presumably a Snow Goose, was in with the numerous Canadas at Shelburn Bay. I first saw it up on someone's lawn close to the water, but given that there are no shoulders on the stretch of road just before the Bay, I was reluctant to stop. That would have been my one good chance to have a good look for field marks. I could see it from the boat access swimming around close to northern shore, but even with the help of another birder's scope (thanks, Steve)it wasn't possible to see details. Later in the afternoon, on a return visit to the Bay, the goose was in the cattails not far from the bridge. It was still a bit far for me to pick out the presence, or lack thereof, of the dark "grin patch" without a scope. Has anyone else gotten a good look at this bird?
Happy trails,
Heidi
