The primary server that provides UVM's online directory will be updated
on Saturday morning between 7am and 8am.
People will not be able to update their information in the directory
during the upgrade process.
People will be able to use the directory service to look up information
during the upgrade.
UVM's primary LDAP server is being upgraded to OpenLDAP version 2.3.19,
the most recently declared stable version.
There are several reasons for the upgrade, but the two most compelling
are the added features available in the 2.3.x releases of OpenLDAP and
the recent declaration by the OpenLDAP development team of 2.2.x
releases being "Historic" (which means that support is no longer available).
The ldap.uvm.edu service is provided by read-only replicas that live
behind a load balancer. These replica servers will remain on the 2.2
release for a few days. They will be converted to the 2.3 release one at
a time in the evenings or early mornings with no visible outage to
