HANCOCK, Mass. – Vermont senior Hilary McCloy (Sunapee, N.H.) won her
third race of the season with a victory in the giant slalom and the
Catamounts battled off rough conditions to win the Williams Ski
Carnival. Vermont finished with 775 points on the weekend to finish
ahead of second place Dartmouth’s 716 points. Vermont competes in the
EISA Championships at the Middlebury Snow Bowl next weekend.

"We’re traveling to Middlebury tomorrow to race there and to start
preparing for next weekend,” Director of Skiing and head alpine coach
Bill Reichelt said. “We want to get some work in on the giant slalom.
As for the entire team we have been pretty consistent this year and
we’re looking forward to the EISA Championships.”

Vermont took four of the top six spots in the women’s giant slalom.
Senior Jamie Kingsbury followed up McCloy’s victory in the GS with a
third place finish. Sophomore Jilyne McDonald (Bellevue, Wash.) was
fourth and senior Amy Cochran (Keene, N.H.) was sixth.

In the men’s giant slalom senior Paul Epstein (Carlisle, Mass.) and
sophomore Sam Beck (Norwich, Vt.) finished in a tie for 13th place.
Freshman Ethan Korpi (South Londeonderry, Vt.) came in 19th place.

Because of the weather the Nordic events were changed to 3x4k relays at
Prospect Mountain in Woodford, Vt. In the men’s 3x4k freestyle relay
the trio of freshman Anders Folleras (Lillehammer, Norway), freshman
Juergen Uhl (Muhlenbach, Germany) and senior Ryan Foster (Weston, Vt.)
earned a first place finish. In the women’s 3x4k relay junior Carina
Hamel (Southampton, Mass.), senior Anja Jokela (Shelburne, Vt.) and
senior Kate Crawford (Hawley, Mass.) finished in second place.

Vermont won all five carnivals on the EISA circuit this year and
compete in the EISA Championships at the Middlebury Snow Bowl next
weekend on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25.
