While checking out the Canada geese at Shelburne Bay this afternoon I noticed 

that one of them sported a large yellow neck band with J054 or J0540 printed 

on it. Can anyone enlighten me about this method of banding and the 

significance of the alphanumeric? Do I win a prize?
