Yesterday I hiked the orange trail at Mt. Independence. Trails are wet so stay on the upper ones. It is free to hike until they open in May. Spring birding there can be exciting and there is always the possibility of LONG-EARRED OWL which has nested in the past. Found a mallard wing under the cedars, with fox scat.
At Shelburne Bay nothing out of the ordinary except a dead B.B. Gull on the rocks, (no that is not an ornithological cocktail). No obvious trauma. Charlotte Town Beach was quiet until I saw a mink swimming north on the lake about 30 feet offshore!
Charlotte Ferry had the usual BUFFLEHEADS and MERGS.
