The Pink-footed Geese continue in Connecticut. (along with a Greater
White-Fronted goose, among large group of Canada geese)
Directions: From IH91, at Exit 47 take Rte. 190 west. For the Enfield
location turn north on Rte. 5 and in about 1/2 mile turn west toward the
river on Main St. After some turns, it ends up at a boat launch and
parking area. For the Suffield location, continue west on Rte. 190
across the river. Turn north on East St., then turn east toward the
river on either River Rd. or Burbank Ave. Burbank Ave. dead ends at the
river. The geese were seen just south of the old bridge abutments.
Note: when looking for the Pink-footed Geese, be aware that viewing from
the boat launch on the east side of the river gives a view of a very
wide area, mostly at a considerable distance. Viewing from the location
at the end of Burbank Ave gives much closer looks IF the birds are in
pretty much one particular spot, and no view at all
otherwise. Also not that Tue 2/7 they crossed the river and were seen
and photographed close in to the boat launch area.
FYI I have put some pictures I took yesterday afternoon up on the web:
