We would love to use just Vermont eBird to make the weekly RBA!
Perhaps some day we will be able to do this and be sure that 100% of
the sightings have been reported. It takes considerable VINS staff
time to wade through both Upper Valley bird list serve and VTBIRD
list as well as emails and phone calls and finally eBird. eBird is
easy for us as it is a database which allows us to spit out a report.
This would be a piece of cake for us and save us many hours of work.
It would also be great for everyone else too because anyone could
spit out a report for any place, anytime for any bird and know that
the database reflects everything birders saw on those dates.
And, we shouldn't forget the common birds either. You never know when
something might hit them like an avian disease. What is common now,
might not be in 25 years. Who knows?
While we can't do this right now and produce a complete weekly bird
report, our hope is that someday, we will! But, if you want to help
VINS reduce costs and time associated with the weekly bird report,
please enter your data into Vermont eBird. And consider supporting
both by becoming a member.
Thanks for Vermont eBirding to all.
