We drove to Enfield, CT this morning (2/8) in search of the reported
Pink-footed Geese that have been reported there for the past several days.
They were not in the original area of the river as seen from Barnes Boat
Launch, but after receiving a tip from a local birder we did find them in a
corn field across the river in Suffield, CT.
Directions to the Enfield location (approx.1 hour and 10 minutes from
Drive south on I-91 to exit 48. Bear right off ramp on Rt. 220 west. At
traffic signal at Rt. 5 intersection go straight across Rt 5 onto Hampton
Street. Continue around pond (on the left) and at bottom of hill turn right
on Main Street, proceed to end and turn left on South River Street for a
short distance to the parking area of the Barnes Boat Launch on the right.

From Enfield take Rt. 5 South to Rt. 190. Go west on Rt. 190 across the
river. At the traffic signal turn left and proceed south on Rt. 159. Pass
straight thru next traffic signal for a few hundred yards to open fenced in
field on left. Park along the left side of the road near the middle of the
field and scope the flooded corn field beyond where the Canada Geese
congregate. The Pink-footed geese were here walking and standing in the
muddy field. Pink feet, legs and bill were prominent.
