Yesterday I was taking my grandson to lunch in Essex when I spotted a large flock of birds in flight and decided to chase them. Turning right off Rte 15 onto Old Stage Rd, they flew left when I turned right again onto Cabot Dr. While turning around, we spotted a lone bird in a tree - a Pine Grosbeak. We headed down Indian Brook Rd. At the last house on the right, just before entering Indian Brook Park, was a large flock (at least 70) Bohemian Waxwings feeding on crabapples, in the trees, on the ground. I don't know whether the almost 12 year old or Grandma was more excited.
