Sunday afternoon, Larabees Point, Shoreham, from the
Ferry Landing: seven mature Bald Eagles sighted, all
sitting quietly in trees along the shore. 2 on the
Vermont side to the south, the other five over in NYS,
scattered from the point by the Fort almost up to the
paper plant. 3 flocks of Common Mergansers (mostly
males) and a lone Black-backed gull standing on the
remains of the ice. NO fishermen though!
On the drive over & back from Fern Lake: 4 Kestrels,
and a flock of C. Grackles by the Richville Dam.
Shelagh Smith in Leicester.
