I picked my daughter up from the bus in East Poultney today at 3:00pm. As we were driving away from the Church parking lot, she suddenly said STOP!. A "statue" on the lawn turned out to be a Cooper's Hawk standing on a pigeon (yeah!). The pigeon was still flopping at first, but soon succumbed and we watched from about 20 ft away as the hawk plucked the pigeon and started eating.
Tomorrow morning, I plan to check the remains at the scene.
