Just to underscore Julie Hart's recent posting, the Dead Creek WMA is a hot
spot for ducks right now. This afternoon there were hundreds of ducks
swimming in the marshes adjacent to the Brilyea Access road. Accompanying the usual
mallards and black ducks were large numbers of pintails, moderate numbers of
wigeon, and a smattering of easily identifiable green-winged teal and
gadwall. All of these ducks were easily seen from the road with binoculars and/or a
low power scope.
