The solitary Snow Goose was observed today among a loose gathering of some
250+ Canada Geese both within the Otter Creek and on some of higher adjacent
ground in Proctor.
Pine Siskin are still coming to the feeder but numbers have dwindled to just
3 today from highs of 65 on 01.26.2006. Following a snow storm or some
particular inclement weather the numbers would temporarily spike, such as on
03.04.2006 when there were 16 present.
A couple of days ago two siskin were observed participating in a friendly
"bill tapping and clapping" ritual. It was leisurely as they perched on a tree
limb, a possible courting ritual.
