A group of us met on 3/23/06 to plan the 2006 Spring Tech Conference as we have had in the past.
The proposed date that we came up with is Friday May 5th
The location would be at Essex High School
In an effort to meet the broad range of platforms, applications and users that the IT folks around the state have to work with we came up with a little different format than in the past.
We are proposing that there be up to 6 topical areas:
Each topic would be presented in a different room. Based on the interest, the topic may be run anywhere from 1 to 4 times during the day.
The schedule for the day would look something like this:
8:30 * 9:00 Coffee, Danish and meeting old and new friends
9:00 * 9:15 Welcome, review the schedule and locations of sessions
9:15 * 10:30 Session of choice
10:45 * 11:30 Session of choice
11:45 * 1:00 Lunch, Tours, meet vendors
1:15 * 2:30 Session of choice
2:45 * 3:30 Session of choice
3:45 * 4:30 Open discussion, prizes
The cost would be $ 15.00 which is the same as last year.
The specifics in the topical areas would be:
Novell * Staffed by Jack Barnes and hopefully someone from Novell
File System Factory
Windows - Staffed by ? (maybe someone from SymQuest)
Terminal Services (Citrix)
Migration to and from
Virtualization * Staffed by Mike Lambert
VmWare * the many things that you can virtualize
Helpdesk - Staffed by ?
Service level agreements
Open Source - Staffed by Seth Moore and Dave Ball
Collaboration software * Blogs, Wikis etc
Apple * Staffed by Bryan Scofield
iPod/Podcasting in education
I life 06 Suite / Video Editing
We need to know a few things from you in order to help setup the sessions and their contents.
What sessions would you attend (up to 4)
What sub-topics would you add to the sessions
Would you be interested in staffing one of the sessions
If you have any other comments or suggestions, we would love to hear them. It is our day and with your help and input we can make it so that everyone can leave with something useful to take back to your schools.
