We will be hosting an Intel "Teaching Thinking with Technology" course at Founders Memorial School in Essex. It will take place June 26-30, 2006. Class will meet from 8-4 daily. Participants who complete the 40 hour course will be Intel Master Teachers and will return to their school districts to train 10 other staff members in this program. Intel will be providing a Senior Trainer to come teach this course. The cost for the course is $300.00 for three graduate credits through St. Michael's College. If your district is not already an Intel LEA(Local Educational Agency), Champlain Valley Educator Development Center(CVEDC) can sign you up as a Master Teacher. Building on the ideas of effective technology integration and student inquiry, this hands-on face-to-
face workshop focuses on using technology to enhance higher-order thinking skills. In this
40-hour workshop you will learn to use free online thinking tools to engage students and help
them to communicate their understanding of complex concepts.
Attend this workshop to:
* Examine a framework for thinking skills and identify those that are most relevant to your
* Learn instructional strategies for addressing and assessing thinking skills using technology
* Support your students' deeper understanding of core content
* Learn to use a set of free online thinking tools (Seeing Reason, Showing Evidence, and
Visual Ranking) to create visual representations of student thinking and demonstrate growth
in student thought over time
Upon completion of this workshop, you'll be prepared to effectively implement a ready-to-use
unit plan that is aligned to standards. The unit plan incorporates Curriculum-Framing Questions,
an online thinking tool project, and an assessment plan and tools. It also supports studentcentered
learning and authentic inquiry.
Local Education Agencies (LEA's) identify Master Teachers to participate in this workshop who
have intermediate computer and technology integration skills, such as those learned through the
Intel® Teach to the Future Essentials Course or a comparable program. As a Master Teacher,
you'll receive comprehensive instruction and curriculum review. After completing the workshop,
you will return to your area schools to recruit and deliver this workshop to a minimum of 10 of
