Here at the Barre SU we have had some success installing legacy apps to the
"Shared Documents" folder and/or changing permissions on folders where the
app expects to be able to write and/or making use of the "Compatibility"
tab in the properties of a shortcut. We have almost no users running in an
admin account.
However, we do still have a bunch of Win98 systems around!
Software is only supposed to be installed by tech people even if it is
free/open source.
This happens most of the time. We used to have a lot more computer issues
caused by users installing (trying to install) software, probably because
they cannot with a plain old Windows user account!
