Maeve....... I wish I could give you 'the definitive answer' but I
can't. :o{ I really think it is all smoke and mirrors with a heavy
dose of luck . I didn't put the Oriole feeder out this year because I
was just plain sick of the entire unsatisfactory effort. I happened to
be in the kitchen and noticed a male Oriole sitting on my old Droll
Yankee satellite hummer feeder. He was trying to get his beak into the
tiny holes and was quite insistant. I immediately hauled out the oriole
feeder, filled it with sugar water and hung it out not far from the
hummer feeder. Voila!!
