Over the past five years our monitoring at West Rutland marsh has not
identified a Sedge Wren. This does not guarantee that Sedge Wren are not present.
However, as the name implies, their preferable habitats are sedges and wet
meadow grasses. Some 25-30 years ago Sedge Wrens were observed at the north
end by the Pleasant Street bridge. The habitat has since changed somewhat and
has been replaced by alders.
