I had a nice walk in areas around Shelburne Bay yesterday afternoon during
a brief break in the clouds. My thanks to Ted Murin for identifying the
various birds around - I will try to note them correctly:
First saw a female COMMON MERGANSER with about a dozen young (see the
first page of my website for a photograph: www.heatherforcier.com). There
was also a GREAT EGRET in the marsh, and several BALTIMORE ORIOLES singing
around the area.
On a nearby path, there were plenty of birds, but most notable were BLACK-
AND-WHITE WARBLER, MAGNOLIA WARBLER, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER. Ted found
an OVENBIRD singing like crazy in the open. There were more types of
swallows over the field than I can remember.
Based on the rain now, I'm very glad I went out yesterday!
