We have more Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in the yard this week than I have ever seen - at least 12 at a time! We"ve had Baltimore Orioles coming to eat orange slices, a beautiful Indigo Bunting, White-crowned Sparrows, and many Goldfinches.
Last Saturday, five of us did a mini-Birdathon along a very muddy Mad River Path. Highlights included Warbling Vireo, Gray Catbird, several American Redstarts, Least Flycatcher, Spotted Sandpiper, Bobolink, Savannah Sparrow.
The report of the phalaropes at Kent Pond sent me over to Blueberry Lake today to see if there were any interesting birds there - two White-winged Scoters, several Killdeer, and Canada Geese with 8 goslings.
Happy birding,
Pat Folsom
