Greetings Birders,
I'm travelling from New Mexico to New England to do some work on the bird
communities associated with bogs and clearcuts in Vermont, New Hampshire,
and Maine this summer. Although I know of a few spots where I want to focus
my attention for bogs (your suggestions are always welcomed), I do not know
of any recently harvested forests in the region. My home base will be Alton
Bay (Lake Winnipesaukee, NH), but I'll be willing to travel within 3 hours
or so of that area.
If any of your favorite birding spots include or are near a clearcut to
which I could have access, I would appreciate your advice. I have birding
guides and gazetteers for each state, so you can refer to specific page
numbers and grids if you wish.
I can't wait to return to the birds of New England after four years in the
grasslands of New Mexico (I'll never take chickadees for granted again), and
I hope to see some of you in the field.
Please reply off list to me directly, and thanks in advance.
Greg Keller
