Hi Missy,
Deb is out of town this week. I guess I'll give the usual conservative
advice. If you are notifying your own board members and the board members
agree in writing (or by email) to receive all written notices re hearings
for the board by email, then you at least know that those board members
won't sue you for failure to give proper written notice. Until the
legislature amends the statute, I would do all appellant and other notices
by certified mail.
Best Regards, Kathy

Thanks Cassie. I guess it's true that e-mail is a written notice. It is
merely the means of sending the written notice that is different. Maybe the
Secretary of State's Office could weigh in on this??? Missy

I think it just says "written notice". I have a few members I send email
notices to. The rest of the members and all of my public places for posting
get it on real paper.

Subject: meeting notices
Hello- I am getting ready for BCA hearings. I will be notifying all people
who are appealing by certified mail, and posting notices of meetings as
required. My question is this: The BCA members would prefer to be notified
via e-mail rather than receiving a mailed hard copy every week for a meeting
they already know about. Is this legal? Thanks! Missy
