For the past week or so the local nesting Merlin pair seem to prefer to make
its presence known at the day's extremities, in the predawn and evening
twilight. This evening one bird was particularly vociferous, all the while the
Elementary School clock was striking the hour of nine, and that in no way
interrupted its protestations/affirmations. I am wondering if these times are
preferred hunting/feeding opportunities, assuming there are young still in the
Knowing and recognizing the source of these wild vocalizations, they invoke
a veritable wilderness sensation, all from the comfort of our porch!
