Excuse me if I'm not thinking clearly about this ~ but doesn't this
promote solo commuting or at a minimum dissuade public
transportation?!?!

Parking downtown Burlington during the holidays just got a lot easier on
week nights and weekends during the holidays. 850 additional free
parking spaces, totaling 4850 parking spaces are available to downtown
holiday shoppers for two extra weeks from November 18th through January
7, 2007.
There are more than 300 retailers located in the downtown area.

Thanks to the generosity from locally owned private property owners whom
have opened up their parking lots during the Holiday Season. The extra
850 parking spaces available in Downtown Burlington will make shoppers
smile at how easy it will be to find a place to park. Burlington's
municipal parking garages and Burlington Town Center garage also offer
two hours free parking and ALL of the parking meters are free during
holiday weekends. Downtown Burlington offers holiday shoppers 4850
available parking spaces, which equals up to 704,240 hours of free
parking time! That is 43,000 more hours than last year!!
These are the locations free parking is available from November 18, 2006
through January 7, 2007:

STATE OF VERMONT PARKING LOTS at:
.	50 Cherry Street (across from Macy's) 50 parking spaces
.	59 Pearl Street (Dept. of Labor) 40 parking spaces
Parking is FREE at these lots ONLY on week nights, 6 p.m. to 10p.m.;
Weekends 9:00 am till 10pm from November 18 through January 7, 2007.

 PEASE WEST PARKING LOT at foot of College Street on the West side of
Lake Street; at the end of the Free College Street shuttle (80 parking
spaces) Parking is FREE at these lots ONLY on week nights, 6 pm to 10
p.m.; Weekends 9:00 a.m. till 10 p.m. from November 18 through January
7, 2007.

MAIN STREET LANDING PARKING LOT (160 Parking Spaces) at the foot of
College Street next to Union Station at the end of the Free College
Street Shuttle.
Parking is FREE at this lot only on Week nights, 6 p.m. to 10p.m. and
weekends 9:00am to 10pm from November 18 through January 7, 2007. 

PERKINS PIER PARKING LOT (180 parking spaces). 
Parking is FREE at this lot ONLY on Week nights, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.;
Weekends, 9:00 am * 10pm. November 18 through January 7, 2007.
 
ELMWOOD AVE PARKING LOT, just north of the U.S. Post office in downtown
Burlington (88 parking spaces) Parking is FREE at this lot ONLY on Week
nights, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Weekends, 9:00 a.m. * 10 p.m. from November
18 through January 7, 2007. 
 
These are the locations free parking is available from November 24, 2006
through January 7, 2007:

HOWARD CENTER FOR HUMAN SERVICES, 102 S. Winooski Avenue 
(50 parking spaces)	
Public parking begins Friday, November 24, 2006 from 6 p.m.-10 p.m.
through Monday, January 1, 2007.
FRIDAY NIGHTS ONLY 5:00 pm to 11 p.m. AND
Weekends 	9:00 a.m. to 11 pm

*TD BANKNORTH (120 parking spaces) on the corner of Main Street and St.
Paul Street The lot will be open for public parking through DECEMBER 31,
2007 at the following times:
Week nights:	6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Weekends 	9:00am to 10:00pm

NO PARKING ON THE FOLLOWING NIGHTS, * to accommodate Flynn Theatre
patrons * on November 25, 26 and 29; December 2, 3, 6, 9, 10, 17, and
31st.
SURFACE PARKING LOT ON CORNER OF MAIN AND PINE STREET Across from the
Ski Rack. (15 parking spaces) Parking is FREE at this lot ONLY on Week
nights, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; SUNDAYS ONLY, 9:00 a.m. * 10 p.m.. November
24 through January 7, 2007.
 
SURFACE PARKING LOT BEHIND POMERLEAU'S REAL ESTATE OFFICE 69 COLLEGE
STREET entrance on S. Champlain Street
(23 parking spaces)
Parking is FREE at this lot ONLY Evenings Monday through Saturday, 6p.m.
to 10p.m. and Sundays 9:00 a.m. * 10 p.m. from November 24 through
January 7, 2007.

CHITTENDEN BANK PARKING LOTS at:
.	150 Bank Street (across from Henry's Diner) 26 parking spaces
.	2 Burlington Square (Bank Headquarters) 24 parking spaces
Parking is FREE at these lots ONLY on week nights, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.;
Saturdays after 1:00 pm till 10pm and Sundays 9:00 am till 10 pm from
November 24 through January 7, 2007.

Thanks to these downtown employers for opening up their parking lots to
the
community* State of Vermont, City of Burlington, TD Banknorth,
Chittenden Bank, Main Street Landing Company, Redstone Commercial,
Downtown Joint Venture, Pomerleau Real Estate, and Howard Center for
Human Services*
