Many birders on the Maine pelagic trip were wearing small patches behind
their ears, which many swore were proof-positive against mal de mer. One man
told me the medication in the older versions of these patches tends to counteract
inhibitions, which might have been the explanation for one photographer who
started the trip staid and even shy and ended up jumping about on deck,
bellowing up at the cabin "Cap'n! You the MAN!"
