Hi all,
Right now a major concern is fundraising. Here is what we discussed:
- Getting bagels donated from Brueger's Bagels selling breakfast
sandwiches. We are going to contact Feel Good to see if we could use
their stand in the mornings and also where they get their donated
supplies from (since we are supporting similar causes)
- Jess is going to let us know when the Teddy Bear Factory will need
us to volunteer. It will begin after Valentine's day since they are
very busy, and it will be one different days during the week. If
everyone could volunteer a few hours we could fundraise a lot of money.
- We also discussed making a media kit, which is a packet stating who
we are, what we have done, what our national organization stands for,
and what our goals are. It can then be illustrated with pictures from
the Nicaragua site and be used to ask for donations from local
companies. I am going to contact Monika in the dean's office about a
list of local companies supporting UVM engineering organizations.
Shanta and Andy are going to contact Mandar to see if he would be our
technical lead and/or guest speaker at our next meeting. He knows a
lot about soils and how they are impacted. He would be able to answer
our questions and guide us in our brainstorming.
Our next meeting will be Feb. 21st, wednesday, at 7:00 in Perkins 211.
Until then please research engineering designs used in projects
similar to ours. The ewb site ( www.ewb-usa.org ) has a lot of
resources.
Thanks,
Jacquie
