>What's you computer to student ratio, or do you even care about such
>things?
Better than 2 students per computer and that does not include admn
only (3) We care only because the amount of use has indicated that
increasing our ratio was important (which is why I posed the battery
question since the batteries were being run right down and the
computers were becoming unavailable.)
>Actually two questions: How many IT Support Staff do you have?
1, part time (budgeted for 215 hours a year) handles network
functions, hardware and software support and staff training. Also
seems to involve understanding the fire alarm system, setting digital
timers for lighting, and anything else remotely referred to as technology.
>Are these two different roles in your building/district?
See above :)
>If you have a planned computer life cycle, how long is it (3 years, 5
>years, go until they explode, etc)?
At this point we are doing a go till they explode thing as we have
been increasing the amount of available computers in the building. As
for replacement that time is coming but..... when you deal with only
elementary school age students the older computers still do all the
basics well so all computers are used and they just keep on trucking.
Hopefully we will start looking at doing some replacing in the near future.
