It is common on any that the transfer assembly/roller is going bad on.
If the pages come out "dirty" it is almost always the transfer assembly.

Subject: color laser issues
I have an HP color LaserJet 2600n that's about 1.5 years old. Recently,
the print quality has seriously declined. The pages are "dirty" and
generally not great quality. I have used the toolbox to clean and
recalibrate. I've also run a "demag" paper through it. If you own one of
these, it this common? Do you have any advice as to how to improve the
print quality? I would also take suggestions on a new HP color laser
model.
Thanks,
Brucie Donahue
