Tuesday at dusk we watched a Barred Owl hunt from a perch above our bird feeder and successfully catch a mouse for dinner. This afternoon I surprised a pair of Barred Owls while snowshoeing through very deep snow in the woods behind our house. They glided silently ahead of me and disappeared among the snowy branches. The first Barred Owl serenade for 2007 was heard this afternoon at 3:30! Thoughts turn to the last year of Atlasing!!!!
