We had a lone raven who visited the edge of our backyard regularly this
fall, but I hadn't seen it for several months. I was out walking my dog
this morning when I heard the unmistakable call. It's always fun to watch
it swoop among the tree tops.
Another thing I've noticed recently is that all my feeder birds are enjoying
the suet I put out for the woodpeckers. I'm not surprised by the chickadees
or nuthatches. But the juncos and tree sparrows look so funny fighting to
hold onto the suet feeder while they snack. I assume they're after the fat
because it's been so cold but I'd never noticed this behavior before.
