I spent most of Saturday and Sunday in the area where the woodpeckers 
have been observed.  Unfortunately, I did not see or hear (no one else 
present while I was there did either) the American Three-toed Woodpecker 
while there. 

However, Sunday morning at 7AM when I arrived, 3 Woodpeckers were active. 
A male Black-backed Woodpecker was active in one tree (I have photos with 
its solid black back-showing it's not the Am. 3-toed).  I have not seen a male 
Black-backed posted there before.  A female Black-backed Woopecker was 
quite near. And the Hairy was all over the place.  White-winged Crossbills 
were incredibly abundant, much more so than my recent Adirondack 
Bloomingdale visit.  Boreal Chickadees were quite abundant and vocal both 
days.  Two Gray Jays were in this area and four at the parking area, some 
with bands. Also seen were Pine Siskin, Common Raven, Blue Jay, Robin. 
Someone mentioned having good looks at a Red Crossbill.  WW Crossbill were 
also in the road on 105, eating grit.
