My email on VT Bird was in response to others
reporting chipping sparrows.  I do not feel
comfortable absolutely confirming this for a few
reasons.  I did not ID a central dark spot which I
searched for as I though tit was a tree sparrow.
Without the central spot, chipping sparrow could
be the only option.  However, the bird was a bit
too red for me to positively ID it as a chipping
sparrow which does not belong here this time of
year.  I have been looking for him again today and
will try to get a photo.
