Yesterday afternoon I glanced out the cellar door and saw a Sharp-shinned had a Blue Jay on his back on the ground under one of our feeders. The bj was struggling as the sharpie started to remove some of the feathers. I went to get our camera and binos when my wife said the bj had escaped into the feeder tree. The sharpie perched in a nearby and watched as the bj worked his way up in the tree, and then took off with the sharpie in pursuit. They went out of sight, but then we spotted the sharpie perched in an aspen with no sign of the bj! I guess it was the Blue Jay's lucky day!!
