On my drive home Sunday afternoon I saw my first flock of snow
buntings - this is the first winter I've really looked for them.
There was a flock of somewhere between 50 and 75 in the small
cornfield alongside Stagecoach road in Stowe (just past the veterinary
clinic) This flock also included one rock pigeon who was clearly
feeding and swirling around with the buntings. There was a smaller
flock of ~20 horned larks on the other side of the road picking up
some grit. There was also a good sized collection of crows, maybe 15
