Benson has prices for selling lots.
20 x 20 lot where you could bury 8 cement vaults $2,000. of which
$1600. goes to perpetual care and $400. goes to cemetery account. Half
lot is $1,000., quarter lot is $500. All prices went into effect
7/1/2005. Because our cemeteries are costing so much to take care of,
we are now charging to place a stone and to bury someone. That fee is
$50. each. It helps.
Our town votes a figure, $5,000. this next year, to take care of 4 cemeteries.
We have three great ladies that do a great job. Our newest cemetery
is on a hill and quite hard to do. Then we have a boy that goes out
and does our 2 older cemeteries. Try to spend $500. on the old
cemeteries.
We have one fellow that digs the graves with a backhoe. People have
to hire him and pay him directly. Can dig own holes for urns.
Any money we spend over the $5,000. is taken out of the perpetual care
so the cemetery has a zero balance. We did have vandalism and have
money to fix those stones. (donationa and restitution from one boy who
did damage)
Hope this helps.
