A morning walk through the woods off Cooper Road and along Lake Arrowhead
produced 27 species. Among the more common birds were a pair of Golden-
crowned Kinglets, a male Bufflehead, 17 Ring-necked Ducks, a drumming
Ruffed Grouse, 2 Pileated Woodpeckers, an Eastern Phoebe, and a Great Blue
Heron. Not such a bad day for Friday the 13th!
