Around 6:00 p.m., on the brushy lane through the Christmas Tree farm, I heard what sounded like the first Catbird to arrive. I looked and looked, but failed to find it. A little later, on my way home, I found the mimic (silent, now) perched low in a shrub. It was a Brown Thrasher, not a Catbird, and he posed warily for quite a while, fixing me with his yellow eye...
And the shadblow is blooming and the trilliums are up. Yay!
