Hello folks,

Whew!  Perhaps I should say no more, but here I go.  I did not mean to start this debate about hunting but maybe it is a not a bad thing at all. 

I grew up with hunters in the family and MOST of them had brains larger than the turkeys' so no, I am not surprised that you do not need my help to find them.  We often had venison, duck, fish, and sometimes even a squirrel or two on the dinner table and any conversation about whether or not they should be hunting never occurred to us.  At that time, I knew I did not want to be there when the animal/fowl was shot but see nothing wrong with feeling that way either.  

My family still has hunters, some of whom enjoy picking on me a little - one laments he cannot do away with the Great Blue Heron who keeps showing up at his trout pond.  We all laugh because we know he'll never do it, but they also know I probably won't let them know where I last saw Tom Turkey around hunting season.

My post was not meant to be offensive or judgmental about hunting.  I wouldn't have known about Turkey season if some members of my family were not talking about it and scouting out some favorite spots this last couple of weeks, nor do they feel shy about talking about it in front of me.  I simply thought there may be some people out there who would prefer not to inadvertently bring attention to some turkeys who hadn't been noticed yet.  

I have had long discussions with a friend, a duck hunter, who has explained how much DucksUnlimited does to maintain and improve the habitat for waterfowl and probably other wildlife as well.  That is appreciated.
