Craig and the list -
We had a significant number of questions from an assortment of vendors
regarding the RFP. As a result we decided to postpone the RFP until we
could work through some of the issues/questions that were raised.
In the meantime we are discussing with a few other states the structures
they have put in place to support E-Rate participation by their schools.
Our goals remain to:
1. Provide a vehicle to leverage E-Rate for Vermont schools better than
in the past. We continue to feel that it is possible to bring in more
than a million more E-Rate dollars per year.
2. Support a statewide managed network that will provide lower cost
bandwidth and better support (where needed) for Vermont schools.
This past year's legislature turned some attention toward educational
technology in schools and we hope to take advantage of that interest in
the future. We anticipate having some discussion about a statewide
network with legislators during the next session.
We will bring back the RFP in some form later this year.
Thanks,
Bill

Subject: RFP for state K-12 network - how did it go?
Dear Folks,
Recently there was discussion about an RFP from the Department of ED for
someone to create a network for the K-12 schools in the state.
The date for opening the bids was last Monday.
Has anyone heard how that went?
Sincerely
Craig Lyndes
