We never will know how in advance. One of Marx's more interesting
statements (before he had begun to develop what we now call marxism) was
flippantly but usefully translated in MR some years ago, "Writing
recipes for the cookshops of the future is not our thing." (Then follows
the useful and true but often overused point about ruthless criticism of
all that is.) We can't design the new world; it can only be forged, bit
by bit, in the practice and thought of those who coalesce to destroy
capitalism. Marx's somewhat later phrase, "revolutionzing practice"
(practice that transforms the agent) is along the same lines.
