Check out a navigation map of Lake Champlain to locate the small islands that
hold birds. Be aware that Popasquash Island off of Swanton and Rock Island in
St. Albans Bay are nesting sites for Common Terns and are part of the Common
Tern Restoration Project headed by Mark Labarr of Audubon Vermont. Access to
these islands is restricted but they are reachable by boat or kayak-weather
permitting. Rock Island is visible from Burton Island, I believe. Mark could give
you detailed advice about these islands and their bird life if you would like
to contact him.
