HI Paul--
The switches can be finicky. I've had that problem both in trying to
turn the pumps off as well as turn them on. You just have to keep
playing with them--maybe try "rocking" them instead of just pushing
them, or push them up as well as in (or down as well as in). Sorry I
don't have a sure-fire way.
