The Sandhill pair at Bristol Pond has managed to raise their chick
(colt) to the fledgling stage. The colt was born around May 12th. It
was observed at fledge stage 72 days later.
Probably the best place to safely view the birds would be from the
Lake Winona (Bristol Pond) fishing access. Look for a tight group of
three cranes feeding in the marsh to the south of the access or
across the channel (east). They can be very difficult to spot because
of all the cattails.
Many thanks to all those who were sensitive to their need for minimal
disturbance. Visit this website if you would like to see what the
cranes looked like on August 2, 2007 at 10:30 a.m.
