I visited Moose Bog this morning (55-60F, sun, not many bugs) with my
daughter-in-law (from NC) and she added five new birds to her life
list (GRAY JAY, BLACKBACK WOODPECKER, NORTHERN PARULA WARBLER,
BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER and TREE SWALLOWS (over the bog). Also
saw think we were seeing NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS over the bog
but could not be sure. She shed tears of joy upon seeing the Gray
Jays!
We walked in South America Road (now marked) to the dead cedar swampy
area and then back down the path to Moose Bog. I was thrilled to
watch two RIVER OTTERS swim the length the bog, leaping and diving
the entire way except for one time when one stopped to position and
eat a fish! What a treat to watch them.
A beautiful morning! We are already planning a return trip to see more!
