This is a putative report and I am only making it to seek any confirmation
from others. On Saturday, there were a large number of mallard on the point
near the drying mudflats along Dead Creek. Mixed in with the mallards were
some black ducks and one odd duck. The latter was smaller than mallard and
black ducks, had a shorter bluish bill and a rufous, unmarked head. Body was
mostly obscured during observation. Tentative ID is Eurasian Wigeon, and
fall reports are evidently rare, but I am wondering if others have seen this
bird and their impressions regarding ID.
Good birding.
