As a sonographer that works in a pediatric facility, yes, children can have DVT, too. Many of their illnesses and conditions are uncommon in the adult and geriatric setting. Sounds to me the resident was on top of things given the patients recent trauma and syncope and potential underlying causes. As sonographers we must remember that we may not always have the complete picture. I would have suggested good, productive dialouge between the sonographer and the resident or attending. There is always an opportunity for learning.
