While the forecasted N wind never materialized yesterday, 9/13, I did sneak a couple hours on the ledge and/or on the hill behind my house on Brigham Hill in Essex:
25+ Broadwings (one kettle of 16)
2 Bald Eagle
1 Harrier
15+ Sharpie
4 TV
The birds moved through in spurts with long periods of empty skies in between.
Cheers,
-Rick

Subject: [VTBIRD] Hawks on the move
On the 11th in the afternoon, I saw a single Broad-Winged Hawk flying low over Otter View Park in Middlebury.
On the 12th, it looked like a perfect day for migration, so I took some time around lunch to scan the sky around Middlebury and found a kettle of 13 Broad-Wings rise up from the East side of Chipman Hill to the cloud ceiling before streaming off to the southwest. I also saw a single Broad-Wing streaming overhead a little later. It made me wish I had taken the time to go to Mt. Philo.
Yesterday, with conditions not quite as good, I again went out at Lunch and didn't see any Migrants, but I did see a Sharp-Shinned Hawk and a Merlin hunting in the area.
