Pine Siskins have been in my backyard in significant numbers, such as I haven't seen for several years. Estimated 20-30, often outnumbering the goldfinches.
I've only seen and heard of reports of one or a few siskins. Is anybody else seeing large numbers? I know some people are anticipating (hoping for) a good winter for winter finches, and perhaps my siskins are a harbinger - or perhaps not.
I've put a few siskin photos on my blog - www.tailsofbirding.net
Also on Sunday - Evening Grosbeak
And recently:
White-throated Sparrow (many)
White-crowned Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Dark-eyed Junco
a very young Cardinal first appeared the first week of October and regular since
some Purple Finches during the first week of October still showed the redness at the base of the bill of a recently fledged bird
